To Update In-Run Valves with a Pipe Run Size/Spec Change

For cases where the size or spec of a pipe run needs to be changed, OpenPlant PID provides a utility which lets the user update the spec information for inline valves included on the run. When the run size/spec is changed the following dialog displays listing the inline valves along with the available matching component records within the spec.
  1. Place a pipeline using a spec (such as Ductile).
  2. Place a couple of valves on the pipeline.
  3. When prompted with the Spec Record Selection dialog, select an entry from the list.
  4. Right on the pipe run and select Element Information from the pop up menu and change the size. (For example: from a 4" to 6") The InRun Spec Validation dialog displays listing the valves which are in the pipe run along with basic information for the valves.

The Spec Records column provides a list of available valves to select for each valve in the pipe run.

  5. For each valve make a new selection from the drop down list of available valves.
Note: If you do not make a new selection, the valve will keep the same specification as long as there are matching records for the new size in the spec.
Note: If a valve has no records in the spec which match the new run size this is noted in the Status column. In this case the valve is placed as a non-spec item.
  6. When finishing selecting the new valve records, click the Apply Spec button to apply the changes and close the dialog. The valve(s) will be updated in the drawing. This can be verified in the Element Information dialog.
